Architecture is the balance of art and science expressing patterns, creating spaces and structures which seem to belong together.

To an artist, “what seems right”  is intuitive and beautiful; that’s how the best architecture is created.

Business/IT architecture is the balance of art and science expressing patterns, creating processes and structures which together perform a function.

Luckily the objectives of a business are a rather more definable than those of an artist, and that gives us the opportunity to use repeatable patterns in order to help optimise a business and that is the job of the architect.
